As tradition dictates, on the day before his 13th birthday, Oskari has to spend the night in the freezing wilderness near to his village in Finland. He is expected to hunt and kill an animal using an ancient bow and arrow. However, he gets caught up in a terrorist attack on the plane belonging to the President of the United States. He is first on the scene and recues the President, but then the terrorists are soon on their trail. Can Oskari keep the president alive long enough for the American Armed Forces to rescue them? The book is slow to start with several chapters describing Oskari leaving his village and heading off into the forest. However, the pace soon changes once Oskari has met the President and they are forced to go on the run. The reader has to forget that a twelve year old boy is telling the President of the United States what to do, and concentrate on the action which is extremely gripping. Some description of dead bodies, but nothing too gruesome. Mild swearing.
