Not long after Aliya’s family escapes from Afghanistan to Britain, her brother is accused of being a terrorist. Aliya is certain he is innocent and so is Dan, a plumber’s son who witnessed Aliya’s brother being beaten up and kidnapped. The only problem is, Dan is worried his dad is involved and so daren’t tell Aliya the truth. As the two of them start looking for clues to try and prove her brother’s innocence, they realise that there are some very important people involved who don’t want them to find out the truth. Told from both Aliya and Dan’s points of view, this is a gripping novel, which may be slightly far-fetched at time, but is easy to read, and draws the reader in from the start. Some violence.
