What if your life turned upside down and you moved to a strange island? What if you had to take down the drug lord in Mexico? Zak Darke becomes Agent 21. A thrilling espionage book. This book isn't what I would normally read but a good book which I recommend to anybody, especilly people aged 11-14. It really needs a sequel which I think there will be! :)

Agent 21 is an enthralling book. Zak is living with his aunt and uncle when his mum and dad die of food poisoning in Nigeria. Was it food poisoning? Zak's life soon changes as he turns Agent 21 and goes under intense training and is soon put in the field with a mission to do. Does he succeed? Does he get the right information? Does everything go to plan? There is a bit near the middle that is predictable but the ending is superb. Overall this book is a really thrilling book and I would recommend to over 10's.

Agent 21 is a great book with suspense, mystery and tension. When Zak Darke's parents die, he accepts a request to join a top secret spy association. He is taken to a mysterious island where he undergos hard training. He is sent on a mission, the purpose of which you will have to find out by reading the book. This book has a great plot with the storyline flowing smoothly. The descriptions are precise and this helps you to visualise the whole story. Towards the conclusion, you realise that the ending is not what you predicted and this ensures that you read on. In a sentence, this book is mysterious, and good for anyone who enjoys spys or undercover agents. Even though people may be stereotypical about this book as it's being about spies so they make the assumption it's for boys, I really enjoyed it and recommend it hugely.

This intriguing book is about an orphaned boy named Zak, who soon finds himself training to be a spy and then embarking on a dangerous mission undercover, which will reveal the truth about his parents murder. Right from the beginning of the book, I was pulled in and couldn't stop reading. I think the chatracters were very believable and the author had a good understanding of how the characters would react, making them very realistic. I also thought that the plot was well structured and was explained in great detail. I would definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy thrilling action packed adventures.

The book was quite interesting and enjoyable, it had me gripped all the way through it.I felt sorry for Zak as he's lost his parents and he knows that the police are not telling the entire truth by telling him and his family that his parents died from food poisioning. I thought that the book was left on a cliffhanger. I would definitely read a sequel to the book.

How would you feel if you were abandoned and left with your aunt and uncle who don't want you? Then some stranger follows you and tells you he knows all about you. Well this happens to Zak Darke and he is signed to a secert agency. I dont reallly like spy novels but this book was the best one I read out of all 6. It was a page turner. You never know what's coming. It was a little unrealistic but that's what the fun is, being imaginative.

Agent 21 is a gripping action novel by Chris Ryan. The story revolves around Zak Darke a boy who loses his parents in a horrible accident and joins a secret government agency and becomes Agent 21. He is then sent on a secret mission in Mexico from which he may not return from alive. I found myself becoming more gripped by the story as the plot developed and I couldn't put the book down. I recommend Agent 21 to anyone who wants to read a thrilling action novel

Agent 21 was great book to read if you like a good agent spy book. If you are a person with a great taste for guns and mystery then READ THIS BOOK. The best character was Michael because, all the time he knows about the secrets. But if you want a super thrilling type of book with even more spy stuff, action and guns try the young bond. My advice is if you like books especially Chris Ryan carry on reading the others because they are the ones that grasp me.

I thought this was a shocking book because there's lots of secrets that Zak has to uncover. I felt sorry for Zak at the begining of the book because his parents are dead and he has to live with his auntie and uncle which they are not happy about. However,by the end of the book I felt happy for Zak because he becomes a full time agent and he's uncovered the secret. If there was a sequel, I'd definitely read it.

There is so much to tell about this book! I loved it a lot! The fast-paced, thrilling story contains the strong imaginaton and experiences of the author himself. The description of the storyline is amazingly realistic! I can imagine every step Zac takes and the continuing heartbeat. I got so into it, once I even yelped out 'Oh no!' just as Harry Gold was about to be revealed! To sum it all up, this book is brilliant and is a great story for older children who like action packed adventure!

Agent 21 is one of the best books I have read. It is very well thought out with all the plots and scenarios which guide Zak Darke through a thrilling adventure as Agent 21. As Zak's parents were killed in a mass murder the plan is about his efforts to find out how. This book has potential to be a movie. Its written like a movie in words and creates diverse images in your mind. Chris Ryan has written the book in a thrilling way which grips you in every page. As it is now on the shortlist for the Brilliant Book Award I see it lived up to its publicity. This is a truly amazing book with twists at every corner and there is no doubt that Zak Darke is the most amazing Agent 21.

I do feel strongly about this book I couldn't stop reading. I still remember the final scenes about finding the real martinez. Apart from the teenage super agent I find the characters beliveable. From the moment I read the first paragraph, I was hooked. The brilliant opening by Chris Ryan allowed me to imagine what was happening in the book. His excellent techniques from similies to metaphors engaged me so much. The book starts off with Zak Dark's parents facing an untimely death. Then, all of a sudden Zak is approched by mysterious men and his life is thrown into danger. The big question on his mind is who killed his parents? With new friends, enemies and big decisions to make, 13 year old Zak is thrown into a new world, where the one rule is never trust anyone. Agent 21 is the best book I have ever read. Thank you Chris Ryan and I am hungry for more in Agent 21 Reloaded in April 2012.

Agent 21 is a thrilling book full of espionage and opportunities for things to go wrong. It has an easy to follow plot yet still has all the characteristics a good book should. All the characters are believable especially his guardian angels who were almost always there when he needed them most during training and I found myself thinking of other things newly recruited agent Zak could do . As the story progressed the settings got less and less believable. I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for an action thriller.

Agent 21 is an amazing thriller and is a very well thought out book with a very gripping and interesting storyline in which Agent 21 a boy called Zac is recruited for a government agency for special training. Chris Ryan has finished the book well with a dramatic ending and yet still somewhere to pick up on if there is an Agent 21 sequel. While I was reading it was hard to put down and I would read it again and again. Very well thought out characters in the book, they all have their own personality and when reading it feels like you know them. You feel like you are inside the book viewing every moment and every scene and you can almost picture the rooms and the faces of the characters and their every expression and this is why I think that agent 21 is a serious contender for the brilliant book award. -Reviewed by Alex Cowan of Retford Oaks High School

Agent 21 is a fantastic action pakced adventure story. A very good read. All the characters in this book are very believable.I particularly like Gabs as a favourite character.I like Gabs because you hardly ever get a female character who is an agent and gets to fight. I think that 'Agent 21' is a very good book and has an easy-to-follow plot. The story is based around a boy called Zak Darke whose parents have recently died of food poisoning. During the night he is abducted and sent to become Agent 21. Overall, I think that it is very good and could be given to anyone to read. I give it a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

'Agent 21' is an action-packed story in which Zak Darke has a huge decision whether to abandon his life to join a secret agency. The way the author describes the characters creates the feel of the scenery and feel of the story. I especially liked the part in which Zak (AKA Agent 21) arrives in Mexico City and undergoes his first mission. His mission is to track down a cocaine dealer who has got the council wrapped around his little finger. So it is up to Zak to find evidence as quickly as possible before he is found out... I liked this book because there is lots of action and is very interesting as after a chapter, you cannot put the book down.

I had high expectations of this book and it didn't fail. A high-octane, action adventure story. Zac is invited to become a spy after both his parents are killed. After extensive training, he is sent on his first mission. The author successfully builds up tension and atmosphere - I found myself reading faster and faster as the story moved towards a climax. Once the reader has overcome the hurdle of accepting the somewhat unrealistic basis of a boy of Zac's age actually joining a secret government organisation, the book is a cracking read. The ending leaves us waiting in anticipation of the next episode.

'Agent 21' is definitely a brilliant book. I found the characters very believable and I liked all the characters. It took quite a long time to get to the main plot but Chris Ryan leaves you hanging on every word. I did find it a bit unbelievable that a boy of that age would be put into a situation like that but altogether it was a great read. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good action adventure.
